Some cafe ambience severely altered with blok modular fx. Was originally a long jam cut up into a bunch of individual files but i figured searching through them would be a pain so i merged them back into one file. So listen through and pick the sounds you like with a wav editor, or enjoy it in its own regard as abstract sound sculpture or something. I don't want to divulge too much of what the patch looked like but it random note values with each keyboard press which were then ran through a waveshaper. Later on i add some reverb and use various things to alter the panning for some strange stereo effects. Edit: you might want to use a dc eliminator on the samples because the waveshaper creates some dc offset (basically useless low/zero frequency noise for those not in the know). I recorded one hour of machine composition. I did not listen to it. I did not open the file in audacity. I told my fb fiends to give me a number between 0 and 57. I got 42 (what else). This sound is minute 42 to 45 from my one hour recording. The rest is deleted. Gone.

Another one with 1 looping envelope and 2 vclfos in a dance. I start the recording with the looping envelope in non looping mode. After about 33 sec i switch to looping-mode. The recording was made 09:00 (16-05-11). Unfortunately nothing happened outside the window. Even the birds was quiet. I think there is a hint of feedback in the sound? first i planned to record with an old tape recorder, but i couldn’t find it. . . I think this recording should be listened to with low volume. May by it was a mistake to amplify the sound in audacity? but i think there is a nice room ambiance to the recording. Ideas for next time. Use guitar amp. Find old tape recorder. A near chaotic experiment. Im mixing cycling envelopes and lfos to generate triggers. The four sounds are totally unrelated. > bass drum. > snare (or something. . . )> bass. The pitches for the bass are generated withthree mixed lfos. A trigger is generated from the quantizerwhen the cv changed enough to generate a new note inthe selected scale. > ear piercing and annoying sound. Three minutes of more than enough.

5 min recording. Question. Do you hear any form of repetitiv pattern?the "engine" for this. . . Is a feedback patch. Chaotic? maybe. The colors the soundfile get here on freesound reveals patterns. I use this feedback patch to derive timing and pitch. I restrain the pitch. It's bad enough as it is. The feedback patch is made with 2 lfos, 1 vclfo and a vcad.

In this patch i’m using doepfer a-160 clock divider as a sub bas generator. Square wave out from doepfer a-110 to trig in on a-160. I guess a square wave makes it easier for a-160? /4, in this patch, out to uvcf. The sawtooth from a-110 to another nice filter - the wasp filter. The transient modules 8s sequencer gives us an 8 note sequence. A copy of the sawtooth melody is going to an analog delay stomp box from joyo and back to the synth. 2hp osc is fm modulating bermuda (using fm in). Pitch cv to osc is controlled by sloth and attenuverter. The bermuda tri output singnal is shaped by doepfer vactrol vcf. The vcf is modulated by sloth (cv in 1) and jerkoff (cv in 2). The noise it from dan, going to polivioks vcf. Polivoks is modulated by sloth. Output from vcf is going to vca controlled by another sloth.

An lfo set to 1hz connected to doepfer a-160 clock divider and hexinverter électronique jupiter storm "cv all". Before recording i reset the clock divider. Simple patch. Two oscillators, ring modulation, lfos, vcas and digital effects. No spring reverb this time. Important module is the clock divider. The oscillators where tuned to the same tone one octave apart. Well. . . Not exactly. After having recorded i measured the frequencies 228,8 hz and 117,7 hz. . . But that made the output from the ring modulator interesting. What is generative with this? i modulate amplitude of the sounds and the decay for all thee sounds. This also affects the rhythm sound.

Using a bass drum module to get not that bassdrummy sounds. . . Combining this with different types of feedback. I didn't know how to end the recording, as you will notice. I'm using an analog delay and spring reverb. Maybe the ending in it self is interesting? i find it hard to "tag" this sound :-)how useless is this sound on a scale from 1 to 5? 5 is totally useless. . .

Here are some drums i made, on the synthesizer again. In order they are: parallel compressed kick, regular kick, snare, closed hi-hat and open hi-hat. The set before the break is mastered, while the set after the break isn't (i did throw a little limiter in there though just to boost 'em up a bit easily, but they're still not mastered). Enjoy. An almost similar snare sound to that of idioteque in radiohead's 2000 album kid a. Though it is meant for experimental style, i think it would work with any form of electronic music. It was created by resonating noise from audacity, filtering it, fading it out, stretching it and compressing it. It has a characteristic sustain to it.
